Nurse Practitioner – Heart & Vascular Critical Care (Locum – $135/hr + Benefits) New

A high-acuity Heart & Vascular Intensive Care Unit (HVICU) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner for locum tenens coverage. This inpatient role supports post–cardiac and vascular surgery patients in a specialized ICU environment with some of the highest patient acuity in the health system.

Providers manage critically ill patients following complex cardiac and vascular procedures, including those requiring ECMO, Impella, VADs, and advanced mechanical ventilation. This opportunity is ideal for APPs with cardiac ICU or cardiothoracic surgery ICU experience who can step into a fast-paced, highly specialized unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage critically ill cardiac and vascular surgery ICU patients

• Care for patients on ECMO, Impella, and ventricular assist devices

• Perform ICU procedures including central & arterial line placement and bronchoscopy

• Manage advanced ventilator strategies

• Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons and ICU teams

• Document and coordinate complex critical care plans

Qualifications

• Active Pennsylvania NP or PA license

• AGACNP preferred (CRNP/PA-C accepted)

• 1–3 years cardiac ICU or cardiothoracic ICU experience required

• Strong procedural and critical care skills

• Comfortable managing high-acuity ICU patients

Schedule & Compensation

• $125–$135 per hour

• Locum tenens | Inpatient ICU

• Three 13-hour shifts per week

• Rotating days/nights (night-only candidates considered)
